This is how you post an image
There are 2 ways of posting an image on istheshit.net
1. Find a word that no one has posted an image too yet. These words have the standard black and white Hasselhoff photo as image and have "There is still no image uploaded for xxxxxxx is the shit! Upload one here >>" written beneath them. Post your image by using the "here >>" link.
2. You can challenge an already posted image by using the challenge link found on every page: "Challenge this image!" When you do this you request the picture posted to be exchanged for the picture you post. This feature shall only be used if you got a better picture then the existing one. The challenge will be judge by istheshit.net and the image will change, if we like the challenge, when we have approved it.

The saying “is the shit”
This site is about telling other people what you like. In other words, what you think is the shit. Is the shit does not mean that the thing is shit or crap, but the opposite. It's about what you think is good, terrific and great. The little word ”the” makes all the difference. With the extra “the”, an entirely different meaning for the usual negative word shit applies.
Like this: This site is the shit = This is the best site.
This site is shit = This is a bad site.

About the istheshit.net store
The store exists to get funding for the constantly rising costs for this site. Like bandwidth, hosting and hardware. We don't like annoying ads but we need to get funding in some way, so we thought making funny and good looking shirts would be a good solution. If you like this site, the easiest way of supporting us is to buy something from the store. All products are produced by the company Spreadshirt and there is one EU store and a US store, to lessen shipping/import costs for you. If you got questions about designs please feel free to contact us. If you have any questions about the printing process, shipping, product assortment etc., please direct your questions to Spreadshirt, who answers these kinds of questions. Legal notices
This site is hosted and run from Sweden and hence Swedish laws are applied. This site does not in any way try to break any laws. Neither do we try to invade privacy or to mock other people.

The BBS-law
Istheshit.net has no Legally Responible Publisher (Ansvarig utgivare) and therefore the Swedish BBS-law (BBS-lagen) should be applied. In short, this law states that if something illegal is posted on a site, the administrators are obliged to help and remove the content, but are not personally responsible for the content. The people contributing are the ones responsible for their actions.

The Personal Data Act
In Sweden we also have something called “the Personal Data Act" (PUL). It states that you can’t publish any “Personal data” about a person without their consent. Personal data can be all kinds of information that directly or indirectly may be referable to a natural person who is alive. Therefore, a picture of a person, where you can tell who it is, shall be classified as “personal data” and may not be published without consent from the portrayed person. In other words, you may not post pictures of you friends if they haven’t told you that you may do so.

About screening and reporting
This site uses semi-active screening and active removal based on reports. Like an ordinary forum we depend on people reporting inappropriate things. We screen every post some time after they are posted and then remove things that we know are illegal and other things we think are inappropriate for the site. For example: Pornography and nudity, racism, obvious attempts to muck or make fun of other people, and of course things that clearly break laws. However, things do get accessible prior to this screening. This means that even things we may not want on this site will be available for a short period of time. An unscreened post states “This istheshit is new and has not yet been screened by istheshit.net” below the image itself.

We rely on our visitors to report things we can not know to be wrong, for example, copyright issues, pictures that mock people in foreign languages, portraits of people that don't want to be on or site or other things that for some reason makes the images inappropriate/law breaking. Please help us keep this site clean. There is a report link on every page, use it for reports.

About Copyright
We have no way on knowing if the legal copyright owner of a picture doesn’t want the picture on the site. Our terms state that you must have legal right to post a picture on istheshit.net. Hence we always assume that the user posting the picture holds these rights. If you find a picture you own rights of and don’t want posted here just send us a report by using the report link found on that page, you may need to prove your claims. Don’t report images that you just think are copyrighted, remember the person holding the copyright may well be the person who posted it, and therefore wants it here.

Cookies and logs
According to Swedish laws we need to inform you that we use cookies for voting, at the moment cookies are not used in any other way. For reference we log the IP of all posts, but we will not give them to any third party, likewise with any e-mail addresses we receive. Images that are removed are deleted permanently. We do not keep any removed pictures in any way.
